Anticlastic Copper Jewelry
John S. Brana's handmade copper jewelry collection includes an array of anticlastic jewelry pieces, including bangle bracelets, copper earrings and copper cuff bracelets. Each piece is handcrafted from the finest raw materials to create a sleek, sensual and contemporary design.
San Francisco-based jewelry designer John S. Brana creates each one-of-a-kind piece by gradually forming a segment of sheet metal into a new form using a variety of different tools, such as hammers, files, steel forms and Delrin sinusodial stakes. The result? And endless array of unique copper jewelry designs.
What is Anticlastic Jewelry?
When discussing anticlastic jewelry, the term “anticlastic” refers to the unique curved shape of these copper jewelry pieces, which is achieved using specialized metal forming techniques. Anticlastic jewelry involves two curves, which extend at a perpendicular angle or in opposite directions.
If you examine one of our copper bangle or cuff bracelets, you'll notice there is a curve on the surface of the metal; the second curve in the metal forms the actual bracelet. It's these multiple curve features that characterize anticlastic jewelry pieces.
The copper jewelry is formed by hand, using an array of metal working tools. These anticlastic jewelry pieces are extremely unique and no two pieces are precisely the same.
